The GPLdev Association Is Now A Reality

You've seen us mention it a number of times in the past over the last several months. The last mention was when the requisite documents had crossed from the North American continent to Europe, with a brief stopover in England, to gather the necessary signatures. Prior to that you voted on the logo and there was an overwhelming favorite. (You can see it at http://www.gpldev.org/ }. We are glad to say that the ink is dry and the final steps have been completed. The not-for-profit organization for the continued development of MDPro (and other things) is now an official organization, chartered in Italy. After months in the formative process, the GPLdev Association is now a reality.

Among other things, the association will assure business and corporate users of the continued development and support of MDPro (and the rest of you as well). Even though the software is free, support and development are factors to be weighed in evaluating the adoption of any software. We felt that forming the association was a necessary step to differentiate MDPro from all the PHP/MySQL CMS projects with tenuous support, including a single developer or a very small development group. Some of these have recently halted development or lag far behind many others.

Some assets of the MAXdev Project (domain names, etc.) will be transferred to the association and all funds received will go to it. A payment block will be added to the maxdev.com site soon for your convenience. In the meantime, contributions may be made to paypal at gpldev DOT org. More information about the association will be added to our wiki documents section in the days ahead.Meanwhile, stay around and enjoy MDPro. We're here for the long run and the best is yet to come.
